Interventional Radiology | IR

MaineHealth offers advanced technology and high quality imaging that allow for diagnosis and effective treatment of many diseases and conditions.

Conventional surgery used to be the only choice for many conditions. Interventional radiology (IR) provides state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging tests and treatments.

What is interventional radiology?

Interventional radiology is a medical specialty that safely treats diseases and conditions using diagnostic imaging equipment. These procedures are minimally invasive, which means they are done with tiny incisions instead of one large opening as with conventional surgery.

Patients have much less pain. Recovery time is much shorter.
