Turning Point Celebrates Grand Opening of Expanded Patient Gym

May 21, 2018

More than 200 people came out to see the new, expanded patient gym at Maine Medical Center’s Turning Point Cardiac Rehabilitation Program when it held its grand opening at 96 Campus Drive in Scarborough on May 17.

Turning Point offers patients who have had a variety of cardiac procedures or who have coronary artery disease a comprehensive diet, exercise and stress management program to help slow, stop or even reverse coronary artery disease and as a result, reduce their risk of further cardiac events. The gym’s new state-of-the-art exercise equipment and facility expansion will give patients more options to personalize their individual programs. It also allows for larger capacity in each class.

More than 6,000 heart care patients have graduated from the Turning Point program since it began in 1996.

“The Turning Point staff help you find your path and help you turn the corner after cardiac surgery,” said Kirk Cameron, a Turning Point graduate who was the guest speaker at Thursday’s event.
