Information on Available Financial Assistance Options

Stephens Memorial Hospital is a part of the MaineHealth system. Your hospital bills will come from MaineHealth Patient Financial Services. If you have questions regarding your bill please contact Patient Financial Services at 866-804-2499. We also have onsite financial counselors who can provide assistance and can be reached at 207-744-6112.

Payment Options

If you are unable to send payment in full, please contact our financial assistance representatives at 866-804-2499 to arrange a payment plan. Prompt payment or arrangements are appreciated.

  • Prompt Pay Discounts: We offer 5% for full payment within 30 days of the first statement.
  • Credit card payments by phone: Please call 866-804-2499 to process credit card payments.

Financial Assistance

We offer Financial Assistance programs:

  • Maine Free Care Program: In accordance with the rules of the Department of Human Services, Stephens Memorial Hospital provides free care to residents of Maine who do not qualify for MaineCare. Your income may make you eligible to receive free hospital services please refer to the Free Care Guidelines. If you believe you may qualify for free care, please print and completed the Free Care Application. Please send completed applications and required verification items to your financial counselor at 301C US Route 1, Scarborough, Maine 04074.
  • MedAccess: For more information please call 877-275-1787
