Partnering to Ensure Access to Quality Care
Having a sick child or a chronic disease that needs medical attention, but no health insurance or limited funds to pay for an office visit, is a distressing situation for many families in the Greater Portland region. NorDx has partnered with Greater Portland Health to ensure that patients in need have access to high-quality, compassionate care.
With the mission to provide high-quality, patient- centered healthcare that is accessible, affordable, and culturally sensitive, Greater Portland Health serves as a critical healthcare access point for an underserved population. Its five locations provide essential healthcare services for more than 6,500 patients, including 1,500 children, many of whom would have no healthcare otherwise. Services range from common wellness and sick visits to chronic disease management.
NorDx has been a proud supporter of Greater Portland Health since its inception in 2009 as the Portland Community Health Center. Laboratory testing stands as a cornerstone for many healthcare
decisions, and NorDx provides its expertise to Greater Portland Health patients at a reduced rate or no cost through its charity program.
“Many of our patients have not had medical care in a long time. Lab work is a very important part of our initial visits, to screen for a variety of conditions,” said Dr. Renee Fay-LeBlanc, Greater Portland Health’s chief medical officer. “Without NorDx’s support, many patients would not be able to get these tests done.”
By supporting Greater Portland Health in its mission to care for these patients, NorDx carries out a key part of its organizational vision of “supporting our partners in healthcare with laboratory services of superior value.”
“We are extremely grateful for NorDx’s long-standing commitment to our organization and our patients,” said Elizabeth Jackson, Greater Portland Health’s chief quality officer. “We remain very appreciative of the state-of-the-art testing available to our patients, regardless of their ability to pay. The lab services
accessible through NorDx are life-changing to many of
