Patient Registration

To pre-register for scheduled services at Maine Medical Center Portland, please call 207-662-2433 or toll-free at 1-800-619-9715, Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 6:30 pm.

Visitor Check-in

All Maine Medical Center Portland visitors must stop at a designated check-in point. All visitors over the age of 18 will be asked to present a photo ID. Talk to a care team member if you do not have photo ID. You may need to wait a few minutes due to this important safety measure. Thank you for your patience. 

Visitors support the well-being and recovery of our patients. 

Help us care for your loved one:

• Review the visitor policy before you arrive.
• Note and respect special signs posted on the doors of patient rooms.
• Check in at the nursing station before entering a patient's room.
• Be considerate of other patients.
• Consult with the patient's nurse for visits by children under the age of 12.
• Avoid wearing fragrances or perfume.
• Patient bathrooms, beds, telephones and drinking glasses are for patients only.

Non-Smoking Campus

For the health and safety of our patients, visitors, employees, and the community, all MaineHealth owned and leased properties are tobacco-free, including parking areas. This policy applies to anyone on any campus, including patients, employees, contractors and visitors. For tobacco treatment information, contact the Maine Tobacco Helpline toll-free at 800-207-1230.

Free Patient & Visitor Parking

Garage: 880 Congress Street, Portland: Our parking garage has approximately 700 free parking spaces for patient and visitor use. The garage is best accessed via Congress Street and is connected to the medical center on two floors. Signs in garage elevators will guide you to enter the medical center through Parking Level 8 or P8. Care team members will be available inside to direct you to your destination.

South Lot: 107 Chadwick Street, Portland: Our South Parking area, located on the corner of Vaughn and Chadwick Streets, is also is free for patients and visitors. This lot is closed to entry after 6 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends and holidays. 

Street Parking

Streets around the hospital are generally posted by the City of Portland as one-hour parking zones. This is strictly enforced by the City. 

Valet Parking

• Main Entrance: Monday through Friday 5 am – 5 pm
• Emergency Department - 24/7

The Pharmacy at Maine Medical Center is open 24/7 for the convenience of our community. Pharmacists are available around the clock to review new and existing medications with patients and families. Learn more.

Impressions Cafe

The cafeteria is located on the Ground Floor of the Richards Wing. It is open daily, 6:30 AM - 2:00 AM.

The Pavilion Grill Coffee Shop

The coffee shop is located on the Ground Floor near the South Entrance. It is open Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Hot foods, sandwiches, snacks, desserts, and beverages are available. The Pavilion Grill is operated by the Women's Board of Maine General Hospital.

Vending Machine

Vending machines are located on the Ground Floor, near the Impressions Café. The vending machines are operated by the Women's Board of Maine General Hospital. 

Room Service 

We offer meal room service for patients between 7 am and 7 pm. For a light snack, visit the nourishment center on your unit. We keep healthy snacks there just for patients. For overnight visitors, low-cost guest meals can be delivered to patient rooms. Speak with a care team member for more information.

Internet Access

Free wireless internet connection (Wifi) is available for all patients and visitors. Please use the mhguest network. No password required. If you need assistance, please call 207-662-6400.

The Gift Shop and Boutique

The Gift Shop is located next to the coffee shop on the Ground Floor near the South Entrance. Learn more about our gift shop and boutique.

The Flower Box

The Flower Box is also located on the Ground Floor and has a wide selection of cut flowers, plants and arrangements. Learn more about our flower shop. 

Mailboxes

A mailbox is located inside, near the South Entrance.

Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)

Two ATMs are located on the Ground Floor, near the Café.

Notary Services

Notary Public services are available Speak to a care team member if you need a document notarized.

Telephones

Outgoing calls: Telephones are located on the Ground Floor along the main corridor. Visitors may not use patient telephones. 

Incoming calls: With their permission, we will share a patient's telephone number with friends and family and connect incoming calls through to their room. Protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our patients is our top priority. We will not share patient room numbers or medical status updates with incoming callers. 

Public Restrooms

Public restrooms are located on the Ground Floor, near the Café, and near the South Entrance lobby. We ask that visitors not use patient bathrooms.

The Chapel

The chapel is located on the first floor and is open at all times for meditation and prayer. Learn more about spiritual care services.

Electronic Messages

Please complete all form fields to ensure your loved one receives your message. Your message will be printed and delivered by Maine Medical Center staff Monday through Friday. Messages received before 10 am will be delivered that day. Messages received after 10 am will be delivered the following business day.
