Pregnancy is a time of enormous change that leads to physical, emotional and mental readjustments. Prenatal yoga can help with these changes by stretching and toning muscles, and practicing relaxation.
Prenatal yoga helps people stay in shape during pregnancy, strengthens muscles, and improves balance and circulation. Breathing exercises and relaxation techniques practiced in the class facilitate connection with your growing baby and can help prepare you physically and mentally for labor and parenthood.
Prenatal Yoga classes through Childbirth Education at Maine Medical Center are offered at the Learning Resource Center in Scarborough.
The first trimester of pregnancy (until 12 weeks) is a delicate period of transformation. In the first trimester prenatal yoga series, we focus on deep breathing, meditation, relaxation and gentle stretches.
