Pregnancy is a time of enormous change that leads to physical, emotional and mental readjustments. Prenatal yoga can help with these changes by stretching and toning muscles, and practicing relaxation.
Prenatal yoga helps people stay in shape during pregnancy, strengthens muscles, and improves balance and circulation. Breathing exercises and relaxation techniques practiced in the class facilitate connection with your growing baby and can help prepare you physically and mentally for labor and parenthood.
Prenatal Yoga classes through Childbirth Education at Maine Medical Center are offered at the Learning Resource Center in Scarborough.
During the second trimester (13-27 weeks), there can be an increase in energy. In the second trimester prenatal yoga series, we focus on building strength and stamina, aligning the spine and breathing to connect even more with your growing baby.
