Prenatal Yoga - Third Trimester 09/27-10/06 11a-11:50a
Pregnancy is a time of enormous change that leads to physical, emotional and mental readjustments. Prenatal yoga can help with these changes by stretching and toning muscles, and practicing relaxation.
Prenatal yoga helps people stay in shape during pregnancy, strengthens muscles, and improves balance and circulation. Breathing exercises and relaxation techniques practiced in the class facilitate connection with your growing baby and can help prepare you physically and mentally for labor and parenthood.
Prenatal Yoga classes through Childbirth Education at Maine Medical Center are offered at the Learning Resource Center in Scarborough.
The aim of yoga in the third trimester (28-40 weeks) is to keep body and mind comfortable and prepare physically, mentally, and spiritually for labor. We use energetic movement, continued toning of the pelvic floor muscles, supported stretches and longer periods of deep breathing and relaxation. This class helps with creating openness, to not only prepare for labor but also motherhood.
