MaineHealth COPD Program

COPD Program

The Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Program helps people with COPD to live well by creating and distributing evidence based patient and provider education tools. Education and self-care are the focus of the program. The program works to improve the coordination of care among people with COPD and their caregivers, community health educators, care managers, doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists.

The focus is on self-care and knowing how to manage symptoms, use medication correctly, and live well with COPD.

Managing COPD symptoms leads to fewer hospitalizations, emergency room visits and COPD related sick days from work.
