Out-of-School Programs

Out-of-school programs support children when they are not in school or with their families. The directors, supervisors, and employees working with kids before school, after school and during school vacations can establish healthy environments that encourage healthy choices.

Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0 works with a variety of out-of-school programs across Maine and in Mt. Washington Valley, New Hampshire, to increase healthy eating and physical activity. The 5-2-1-0 program is flexible and can be easily woven into your existing structure. We support school based programs, drop-in centers for teens, free-standing organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs and YMCAs, and more.

We help you asses what you’re doing well, identify areas for improvement, and implement an action plan to meet your unique goals. Our local coordinators provide training in Let’s Go!’s evidence-based Strategies for Success, and can assist in the writing of simple, effective policies that help sustain the 5-2-1-0 healthy habits.

Registered sites receive a free toolkit full of resources for staff and families, personal assistance from a local coordinator, and on-site and off-site training opportunities. By getting involved with Let’s Go! you’ll join a network of hundreds of sites just like yours, working to improve the health of our children.
