Our Day Support Programs

The Wellness Independence in a Supportive Environment (WISE) Center (in Brunswick) and the Elderworks program (in Portland) offer individualized treatment within a supportive and therapeutic group environment.

Adults 50 years or older with long-term mental health needs

The day support programs:

  • Promote a supportive community, encouraging engagement in healthy behavior, emotional awareness, improved life skills, and self-care.
  • Restore a sense of integrity and a feeling of well-being through the improvement of social functioning and interpersonal skills.
  • Helps individuals maintain their ability to live as independently as possible, and provides increased socialization and management of health conditions by offering wellness activities and programming focused on overall well-being.  

These programs offers a supportive environment and integrated, coordinated care.

Eligibility and Referral Process

These services are available to MaineCare-eligible adults 50 years or older with persistent mental health conditions affecting daily living, such as:

  • Major depression
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Schizophrenia
