Our Refugee and Immigrant Counseling & Case Management (RICCM) program works with children, youth, adults, elders and families who have immigrated to the United States and have experienced emotional and/or behavioral difficulties due to transitions, trauma history, and adjustments.
The RICCM staff are members of the cultural communities they serve. Staff members’ bilingual or multilingual skills are often match with the client’s primary language. Services are also provided with qualified Interpreters when needed.
The RICCM program offers traditional counseling and case management services, as well as specialized support groups for new Americans. Maine Behavioral Healthcare recognizes the difficulties faced when leaving one’s home country, and helps individuals and families work to develop tools that can be used to cope with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, along with other symptoms.
