Health Career Pipeline Program

What is a Health Career Pipeline?

We want to keep Mainers healthy, Pipeline is an effort to reach out to diverse youth and young adults in all Maine communities to enhance and stimulate an interest in health careers and encourage individuals to keep those careers in Maine.

How do we do this?

We offer programming and experiences to interested students. These students can range from grade school through college.

What do we offer?

The Health Career Pipeline Program offers a variety of opportunities and experiences which include:

  • Securing shadowing experiences for eligible candidates
  • The Medical Explorers Program, a nationwide program offering a variety of activities designed to encourage high school age students (grade 9-12) interest in health care.
  • Presentations: we can come to your school or other location to talk about the value of a health career and much more. We can adapt any presentation to fit your audience.
  • Connections: we can help connect interested students with resources, mentors and health career exploration.

Shadowing Experiences

Shadowing a health care provider is a great way to get a better understanding of various health professions. We can assist with finding a variety of shadowing experiences. We will need you to fill out this form to prove that your vaccinations are current and are negative for Tuberculosis (TB) and this confidentiality form.

Please note, you must be at least 16 years old to be considered.

Send completed forms to Janell Lewis detailing what type of shadow experience you are seeking. It’s always good to offer a few options.
