PGY1 Pharmacy Residency

The MMC Pharmacy PGY1 residency program builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. The resident completes rotations with clinical pharmacy specialists, pharmacy managers and coordinators. There are several areas of active involvement:

  • Responding to drug information requests
  • Monitoring pharmacokinetics
  • Participating in medication utilization evaluations
  • Developing patient care plans
  • Contributing to daily interdisciplinary patient care teams

Our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is designed to develop the resident's skills and competency in the following areas:

  • Providing pharmaceutical care
  • Educating patients and healthcare professionals
  • Disseminating accurate drug information
  • Conference Attendance
  • ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
  • Eastern States Residency Conference
  • Maine Society of Health-Systems Pharmacy Annual Meeting
  • Maine Society of Health-Systems Pharmacy Mid-Winter Meeting
