Memorial Hospital Support Groups

Support groups provide a comfortable and safe environment where you can share your feelings and thoughts on a particular life experience. Memorial Hospital and other community health care facilities sponsor a variety of support groups.

 

Alcoholics Anonymous

A beginners meeting for those interested in sharing experience with alcohol.

When:

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Sunday from 3 pm-4 pm

Breastfeeding Support Group

A weekly support group for mothers who are breastfeeding. Sponsored by Memorial Hospital's Family Birthing Center and facilitated by certified lactation specialists:

Michelle Meader RN, CLC, CBE

All breastfeeding women, regardless of where they gave birth, are invited; babies and siblings welcome. Meets at 10am in the Main Street Professional Building (just south of Memorial Hospital's main campus on Route 16) every Thursday.

When and where:

Meets every Wednesday at 10am in the Family Birthing Center.

Caregivers of those with Alzheimer's or Related Disorders

This support group offers education, support and coping skills for caregivers. Pre-arranged care is available for the family member while the caregiver attends the meeting.

When and where:

Meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month, 1:30pm - 3pm at the Merriman House.

Miranda Center for Diabetes Support Group

For diabetics and their support people. An opportunity for education and discussion with other people who have diabetes or are experiencing it in their family.

Eating Disorders Support Group

Group support is not currently available. However you may contact Hope at Hope@NourishingNH.com or 781-254-4230 for more information on one-on-one support.

Journey of Hope - Cancer Support Group

Since 1999, a vibrant group upwards of 20 cancer survivors have met monthly to provide wonderful support to one another. Whether you have been through it, or are going through it now, this is a great group of people to know. Information, education, speakers and encouragement are provided for those with cancer and their support people. This group is facilitated by an oncology certified nurse and Social Services.

When and where:

Journey of Hope meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7 pm - 8:30 pm in the Sun Room.

Loss & Recovery Support Group

Loss and Recovery Group is a goal-oriented support group that is sponsored by Visiting Nurse, Home Care & Hospice; facilitated by Rev. F. Gardiner Perry. Get support to cope with the loss of loved ones. Free and open to all; no registration necessary.

When and where

The Loss and Recovery Support Group meets every Wednesday, from July 1 through August 5, 5:30 pm-7:30 pm in Kline Community Room at VNHCH, 1529 White Mountain Highway, North Conway. For more information, call 356-7006 or 662-9552.

Overeaters Anonymous

OA meets every Saturday morning from 9am – 10:30am at the White Mountain Community Health Center on Route 16 in Conway, NH. For more information, call  207-351-0095.
