Assignments generally require a regular commitment of 4 hours per week for a minimum of six months.
Volunteers greet and direct outpatients to the appropriate staff in the reception area, escort patients to the changing rooms and direct to waiting areas and assist staff in general clerical duties.
MAINEHEALTH LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER
This health information center offers a lending library and health education classes to patients, families and community. The volunteers assist the Health Educators by performing clerical tasks and administrative support functions such as shelve books and videos, photocopying, filing, collating information, communicate with class participants via telephone, distribution of course catalogs and books throughout facility. Assist patients and families in obtaining or locating appropriate resources.

SCARBOROUGH OUTPATIENT CLINICS
Volunteers provide various kinds of clerical assistance to the clinic, including answering phones, filing, collating and other office assistance. Greet patients and direct to appropriate area.
Monday-Friday: 8:30am-12:30pm, 12:30-4:30pm
A friendly welcome and the comfort of companionship await patients and family members in the Radiation Therapy waiting room where volunteers offer coffee and an opportunity for conversation, information in regard to support groups and other agencies in the hospital/community. Patients may also be assisted in accessing information in the Health Resource Center.
Monday-Friday: 8:30am-12pm, 1-4pm
Volunteers give patients and visitors a warm greeting, an escort to their destination within the building, and information about area facilities and resources.

SURGICAL CENTER - 84 CAMPUS DRIVE
Assisting staff in providing efficient admission of patients and support for families in a warm and caring environment is the goal of the volunteers in this area. Volunteers greet and escort patients upon arrival and discharge patients after surgery or procedure, monitor waiting families, answer phone, assist with clerical duties and run errands for staff as appropriate.
Monday-Friday: 7:30am-12pm, 12-4pm
