Physicians Join Maine Medical Partners

PORTLAND, Maine – Maine Medical Partners announces the following new hires.

Lewis Richards, M.D. has joined Maine Medical Partners. He will be splitting his time between MMP - Hospital Medicine and MMP - Palliative Medicine. Dr. Richards earned his medical degree from Chicago Medical School. He completed his residency and Palliative Care and Hospice Fellowship here at Maine Medical Center. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Richards' interests include the relationship between palliative medicine and other specialties. When not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.

Evdokia Eleftheriou, M.D. has joined Maine Medical Partners – Neurology. Dr. Eleftheriou received her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, where she also completed her Neurology residency training and served as a Co-Chief Resident. She comes to MMP having recently finished her fellowship in Neuroimmunology / Multiple Sclerosis at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In her spare time, Dr. Eleftheriou enjoys the outdoors, particularly hiking and nature trails, as well as various art activities.

Patrick K. Hohl, D.O., has joined Maine Medical Partners – MaineHealth Cardiology at its Lewiston practice. He earned his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. At the University of Vermont College of Medicine, he completed a residency in internal medicine, served as chief resident, and then completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Hohl's clinical interests include sports cardiology, valvular heart disease, and nuclear cardiology.

Christopher B. Link, M.D., has joined Maine Medical Partners – MaineHealth Cardiology in its Scarborough practice. He holds a medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and he completed his residency in internal medicine at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Link also completed two fellowships in heart failure and cardiology at UPMC. He is Board certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.

David Taplinger, M.D. has joined Maine Medical Partners - Neurology. He is fellowship trained in Clinical Neurophysiology/EEG and Epilepsy and will be practicing adult neurology with a focus on the evaluation and management of patients with epilepsy. He received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed his residency in the Department of Neurology at University of Virginia. In his spare time, Dr. Taplinger enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.

Emily Carter, M.D. has joined Maine Medical Partners – Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Carter is Board certified in Family Medicine. She received her medical degree from University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Carter completed her residency here at Maine Medical Center and her fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine. Her clinical interests include polypharmacy, peri-operative management, and end of life care. In her spare time she enjoys music, exercising, and taking in Maine's coastal views. She is developing an appreciation for culinary arts.

Christopher Racine, M.D. MPH has joined Maine Medical Center Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Racine is Board certified in General and Forensic Psychiatry and will be working with adult inpatients. He graduated from University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Racine completed his residency and fellowship training at New York University Department of Psychiatry. He comes to MMC from Long Island Jewish Medical Center where he was Director of Emergency Psychiatry. Dr. Racine’s clinical interests include consult-liaison, emergency, and tele-psychiatry. In his spare time, he enjoys bowling, golfing, and coaching his daughter’s soccer team.

Elbert A. White IV, M.D. has joined Maine Medical Partners – Neurosurgery & Spine. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and has joined as a Neurosurgery Hospitalist. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed his residency at University of Mississippi Medical Center. His clinical interests include traumatic spine fracture, traumatic brain injury, intracranial hemorrhage and geriatric spine. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, boating, camping and spending time with his wife and two young sons.

Elizabeth DesJardin, M.D., has joined the Breast Care Center at Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute. She earned her medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed a residency in surgery at Maine Medical Center. Dr. DesJardin also completed a breast surgical fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She joins three fellowship-trained specialists Paige Teller, M.D., Chiara Battelli, M.D., and Lisa Rutstein, M.D., as well as Lynn Reid, APRN-ANP, and Karen Gronberg, APRN-ANP.

Jared Cassin, M.D. has joined Maine Medical Partners – Hospital Medicine. Dr. Cassin will work at Maine Medical Center and Stephens Memorial Hospital. He received his medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine and completed his residency at New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Cassin’s clinical interests include resident education and infectious disease. In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar, singing, mountain biking, cooking and spending time with his family.

Amy Riviere, D.O. has joined Maine Medical Center – Hospital Medicine. Dr. Riviere will be working at Maine Medical Center and Stephens Memorial Hospital. Dr. Riviere received her medical degree from University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency here at MMC. Dr. Riviere’s clinical interests include quality improvement and cardiology. When not working she enjoys spending time with her family, running and skiing.
