This image of "Respect" submitted by Lauren White of Western Maine Health was among the winning photos.

Earlier this year, all MaineHealth organizations established a common set of core values that reflect our beliefs, guide our actions, and shape our collective culture.

During the month of September, all employees across the MaineHealth system were invited to participate in the 2017 MaineHealth Focus on Values Photo Contest and share images showcasing our values: Patient Centered, Respect, Integrity, Excellence, Ownership and Innovation. For a creative challenge, at least one of the values circle graphics had to be included somewhere in the photo.

Employees were invited to submitted photos as an individual or as part of a team in two categories: Values in Action and Most Creative. Photos submitted to the Values in Action category demonstrated moments where employees are living one (or more) of our shared values; Most Creative submissions took an imaginative approach to showcasing our values.

Over 45 photos were submitted by employees across the system and were judged based on the following criteria: 1) Subject matter; 2) Originality; 3) Quality; and 4) Overall impression. The winning individual submissions were awarded a Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 camera; winning team submissions received $25 Amazon gift cards for each team member. Individuals and teams recognized with an honorable mention received tote bags printed with the MaineHealth values.
