Following the successful launch of peer support centers in Sanford and Biddeford last year, Maine Behavioral Healthcare has opened a third center at their Rockland clinic. A grand opening celebration, open to the public, will take place on Wednesday, April 25th from 1 to 4 PM.

Rockland Peer Support Center

12 Union St
Rockland, ME
(207) 701-4555

Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s Peer Support Centers serve anyone in the community with a self-identified mental health and/or substance use challenge that is seeking recovery and wellness. Participants should be committed to fostering an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and respectful. Individuals need not be a client of Maine Behavioral Healthcare, nor show proof of insurance in order to participate. There is no required fee to take advantage of offered activities.

Participants at the Center vote on activities and, therefore, play a crucial role in developing the Center’s programming. The Center is staffed by individuals who have personal experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges. There will be information on a variety of resources available to participants, so community providers and organizations are welcome to share materials that may be useful to participants.

Thanks to a generous $5,000 grant from the Maine Community Foundation, art programming will be available at the Rockland Peer Support Center beginning this summer. Classes will help guide recovery-focused creative and interactive experiences for class attendees.

The center includes a common area with tables and chairs to accommodate meals and socializing, as well as areas for art, recovery groups, and wellness trainings. The hours of operation will initially be Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 6 PM. The Center is drug and alcohol free and smoking is not allowed inside the Club.
