SMHC President and CEO Remembers Barbara Bush

April 18, 2018

George and Barbara Bush 2"The Southern Maine Health Care family joins the country in mourning the passing of former First Lady Barbara Bush," said SMHC President and CEO Ed McGeachey. "Mrs. Bush was a lovely person, admired for her wisdom, wit and direct, down-to-earth style. Anyone who met Mrs. Bush, including many of our staff, was treated with kindness and respect.

"It was my privilege and good fortune to spend time with Mrs. Bush on many occasions, as recently as last fall. She was a dedicated supporter of SMHC. She frequently expressed her profound gratitude for the excellent care that SMHC caregivers provided to her family and friends over many years. We will miss her.

"Our condolences go out to President Bush and the entire Bush family."
