cccyc news smCommitment to Cancer Care in York County remains the same

The Cancer Care Center of York County (CCCYC) is changing its name to the MaineHealth Cancer Care Center York County. The new name, effective June 1, reflects its partnership in the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network, a coordinated system of care that brings the best evidenced-based cancer treatments as close to home as possible to communities across Maine and the Mt. Washington Valley in New Hampshire.

“While the Cancer Care Center’s name has changed, its commitment to delivering the best Cancer Care in York County has not,” said Scot Remick, MD, FACP, chief of Oncology for the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network and Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute. “It’s important for cancer patients to receive the right care, at the right time as close to home as possible. Maine Medical Center will continue to provide York County’s only radiation oncology services at the Center as well as IV therapy. Southern Maine Health Care will also continue to provide medical oncology and hematology services in Sanford.”

The Cancer Care Center of York County, which opened in 2006 at 27 Industrial Avenue in Sanford, was formed in collaboration with Maine Medical Center, Southern Maine Medical Center (SMMC) and Goodall Hospital with a mission to provide the best cancer treatment available in York County from one location. In 2014 SMMC and Goodall Hospital merged to become Southern Maine Health Care.
