Public Forums to Discuss Community Health Trends

October 03, 2018
CHNA-Forum-YorkOn Sept. 27, community members had an opportunity to review and discuss the County Health Profile for York County at forums held in Saco and Wells.
This fall, community members are invited to attend a series of public forums to review health data and determine which health issues should be a priority in the years to come.

Forums are being held in each of Maine’s 16 counties as an important step in the Maine Shared Community Health Needs Assessment, a collaborative effort between Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Central Maine Healthcare, Northern Light Health, MaineGeneral Health and MaineHealth.

At the forums, participants will discuss County Health Profiles that have been developed for each county. Each profile contains almost 200 data points that describe health outcomes, health behaviors, healthcare access and quality, and the social, community and physical environments that affect our health. Previous forums were held in 2011 and 2015.

In addition to collecting input on local health priorities, the forum will also collect information about local resources that could help to address those priorities. Forums and other community feedback will be used as guidance to create new, county-specific health improvement plans in the spring of 2019.

The events are free and open to the public. For more information and to view the schedule of forums, visit MaineHealth.org/CHNA.

Memorial Hospital in North Conway, New Hampshire, will also be participating in a Community Health Needs Assessment forum for Carroll County on Nov. 14.
