On the Go Hair Designs Donates over $2,000 to SMHC’s Center for Breast Care

November 26, 2018

OntheGo smOn the Go Hair Designs raised $2,110 during their 7th annual Cut-A-Thon in support of the Center for Breast Care at Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC).

"This donation from On the Go Hair Designs will help our patients immensely. We are so thankful for their efforts" said SMHC’s Breast Nurse Navigator Helene Langley, RN, BS, CBCN, CN-BN. "The funding enables us to offer educational materials, various speakers for support groups and special enrichment programs for patients such as yoga, the repurpose project, and more. We wouldn’t be able to provide these services without community support and donations like these."

Heather Prejean, owner of On the Go Hair Designs on Main Street in Saco, knows many women whose lives have been affected by breast cancer, including her own clients. In honor of them, Prejean and her staff have held a Cut-A-Thon during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to raise money to directly support Southern Maine Health Care’s (SMHC) Center for Breast Care.

The money raised exceeds last year’s donation and Prejean attributes the success from funds raised from raffles and a donation jar. "This was our most successful Cut-A-Thon to date – lucky number 7!"
