Janet Yost APRN PNPCertified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Janet Yost's first job in high school was answering the telephone at Miles Memorial Hospital. Today, with more than 15 years of experience providing high quality care, Yost cares for Lincoln County’s youth from birth to age 21.

“We are pleased to have Janet part of the Lincoln Medical Partners team,” commented Lincoln Medical Partners Director of Operations Brian Blethen. “She has extensive experience as a pediatric nurse practitioner and connects well with patients at our offices and the Lincoln Academy School-Based Health Center.”

Yost joined Lincoln Medical Partners part-time in November 2017. She now sees patients four days a week at Lincoln Medical Partners Primary Care in Damariscotta, Lincoln Medical Partners Family Medicine Waldoboro, and at Lincoln Academy’s School-Based Health Center.

Since the age of five Yost knew she wanted to be a nurse. “Growing up I was fascinated by my mother’s best friend, Doris, who was a nurse in the Miles emergency department,” Yost explained. “I began my career as a registered nurse but was inspired to become a certified pediatric nurse practitioner after working very closely with a pediatrician for several years.”

Yost earned a master’s degree in nursing from a Simmons College and University of New England College partnership, and became a certified pediatric nurse practitioner in 2003.

“Lincoln County is the most rural place I have practiced,” said Yost who began her career in Virginia and worked in a pediatric office in York, Maine for more than 20 years. “I have been amazed by the amount of resources nearby and the support of the community to help with food insecurity, transportation to appointments, and health insurance. At Lincoln Academy the staff are dedicated to ensuring students are healthy, happy, well fed, and ready to learn.”

Yost works with Registered Nurse Eric Duffy and Licensed Clinical Social Worker Heather Norris at Lincoln Academy to help students with their health care ranging from sore throats and ear infections to counseling for depression and anxiety.

“It is an honor to have parents and guardians trust me with their children’s care,” said Yost. “There is nothing more precious than children.”

Yost lives in Jefferson with her husband Brad. Together they enjoy recreational lobstering, farming, and gardening. She has two adult children and a 12-year-old grandson.
