VNHCH Executive Director Sandy Ruka stated, “Caring for an aging loved one can be a rewarding and sometimes overwhelming experience. We want people to know that support is available. We have an inspiring lineup of speakers this year with a slight focus on cognitive and memory impairment, along with the option to take advantage of adult day services during the Expo. Those who may be in a caregiving role in the future are also welcome to learn more. We hope every caregiver in Carroll County and Western Maine considers coming to this empowering event.”

The workshops and speakers for the event include:

National Presenter Janet Edmunson, M.Ed.
Janet discusses ways to discover strategies and solutions to help family caregivers flourish in the midst of caregiving struggles.

She took care of her husband, Charles, during the five years when he was fighting a degenerative neurological disease. In her book, Finding Meaning with Charles, she wrote about how they strived to maintain a positive attitude throughout. Her speaking experience has included keynotes and workshops for various caregiver and disease-oriented conferences.
