Memorial Medical Staff Support Music Education

NORTH CONWAY -- Several research studies conducted by the American Association for the Advancement of Science have shown that students with music education perform better academically, especially in reading and math, and otherwise, are positively affected. Dr. Victor Lazaron, a concert pianist, and The Medical Staff at Memorial Hospital recently donated a total of $1500 to support Instrumental Music at John Fuller School, Conway Elementary School and Pine Tree Elementary School.

Laurie Turley, Music Teacher at Conway Elementary School, said the donation will help more of her students to be able to participate in music education. The donation will also support the upcoming schedule of winter concerts which include: Winter Concerts Dec. 11 at Conway Elementary School, Dec. 17 at Pine Tree School and Dec. 11 at John Fuller School; the Elementary School Performances at the Louis Fuchs/Otto Ninow Concert April 7 at Kennett Middle School; and Spring Concerts May 20 at Conway Elementary School, May 14 at Pine Tree Elementary School and May 27 at John Fuller Elementary School. These elementary music programs are planned by Turley and colleagues Jen Bradeen, music teacher at Pine Tree School and Saigelyn Green, music teacher at John Fuller School.
