What is the Health Insurance Marketplace?

The Health Insurance Marketplace is where people can compare health coverage options and sign up for health insurance, as a result of the Affordable Care Act. More than 70,000 Mainers had health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace in 2018 and 86% received financial assistance to make the plans more affordable.  

When can I sign up for health insurance?

Open Enrollment is from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15, 2018. It is the time to sign up! Coverage begins January 1, 2019.

Can I get help signing up for health insurance?

MaineHealth has team members in Access to Care Programs: Coverage Team, CarePartners and MedAccess, called Certified Application Counselors who help people review their options for health insurance, apply, and enroll through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Please call with questions or to set up an appointment with one of the counselors.
