Anticoagulation Services

The anticoagulation staff at Pen Bay Medical Center offers services to:

  • Effectively manage your treatment in an outpatient setting
  • Decrease complications, hospitalizations and emergency department use related to anticoagulation therapy
  • Monitor oral medications
  • Reduce bleeding and clotting
  • Provide education


Program Requirements

  • A physician’s referral is required
  • Attend appointments as scheduled
  • Follow instructions for Warfarin (Coumadin)
  • Maintain a proper diet
  • Keep staff informed of all medications taken (including over-the-counter medication, short-term antibiotics, dietary supplements and/or herbal remedies)
  • Maintain communication with our staff about your health and treatment needs

Our nursing team, led by Robert Stein, MD, has successfully completed the Anticoagulation Therapy Management Certificate Program from the University of Southern Indiana.

The Cardiology Department provides services Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

A board-certified cardiologist is available 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and is on call for the hospital after hours and weekends and holidays.
