Pen Bay Surgical Skin Center provides advanced surgical and medical care of skin cancer. We monitor skin conditions for those with a history of skin cancer, as well as those with a high risk of developing the disease. The Pen Bay Surgical Skin Center offers a new method of documenting and analyzing skin lesions with the use of a FotoFinder.
The FotoFinder is a high resolution camera and computer software system that will map and identify new lesions or the slightest change in color and/or size of existing lesions. Photographs are taken of the body from head to toe in just a few minutes, which can then be compared to previous images and analyzed for any changes. Highly magnified images can also be captured by photograph or video for additional screening purposes.
Individuals with a family or personal history of melanoma, skin cancer, atypical moles and/or a history of sunburns and tanning booth use will benefit from these screenings.
The Pen Bay Surgical Skin Center is one of only two practices in Maine to offer this state of the art technology, which was funded in part by a grant.
The open enrollment period for selecting health insurance on the Health Insurance Marketplace is under way, and MaineHealth wants people to know that many affordable plans – including some with $0 premium options – are available.
