When families experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. While I do work with all populations and clients from all walks of life, my greatest passion is bringing healing to children and families of hearing loss who have been or are experiencing trauma/stress. By providing my clients with a warm, safe and nonjudgmental environment I help them find healthy perceptions of themselves, strengthen their relationships and explore issues that may be preventing them from living the life they want to live.

I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual, so I have been trained in a range of modalities including TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), CPP (Child-Parent Psychotherapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).

I was born deaf and raised in a wonderful family in Iowa. My personal life experiences provide a richness to the quality of care I provide to a very unique community.

My educational background includes a MA in Counseling Psychology; children’s track from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR. During my studies I participated with the American Red Cross’s Disaster Action Team and learned about the gap in trauma services for those who are deaf and have hearing loss. When deaf/hearing loss families are experiencing trauma, they have even more limited access to emotional/behavioral support, resources and communication. This passion lead me to take a position with the Deaf Services Team under Maine Behavioral Healthcare (formerly Community Counseling Center) because it granted me the opportunity to focus on my own personal philosophy and provide quality care to a very unique community.
