Rebecca Hoffmann Frances, LMFT
As the Director of Clinical Innovation at Maine Behavioral Healthcare, I manage many large federally funded projects that focus on providing care and treatment for children and families who have been exposed to violence and other types of trauma. One of our major projects is with the Department of Justice Defending Childhood Initiative. We are one of only eight sites funded nationally, focusing on the prevention of childhood exposure to violence, and the implementation of evidence-based treatment for children under five. Another project through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a statewide effort to raise awareness about the effects of violence and trauma on children, and to implement evidence-based trauma treatment in every Maine county.
Overseeing the implementation of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and child parent psychotherapy in greater Portland for almost ten years, I have published national resources on the topic of successful community-wide TF-CBT implementation. At Maine Behavioral Healthcare, I oversee and advise innovation activities to ensure successful implementation and change management. As a licensed marriage and family therapist and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine, I have extensive knowledge of trauma and its effects on children and families, as well as implementation science and change management.
