Heather M. Jackson, LCSW

After originally getting a degree in anthropology, and then working in early childhood education, I later found myself wanting to combine my interests in human nature and human development via a degree in psychology. That pursuit led me to eventually seek a graduate degree in social work, with a focus on becoming a psychotherapist.

I have been a therapist at this agency since 1999, and became involved with DBT-informed treatment early on. In my time here I have worked with a wide range of ages, and with a vast spectrum of issues. Clients who work with me find themselves encouraged to become active problem-solvers within their own lives, while also receiving the validation, support, and guidance needed to navigate the challenges they are facing. A favorite quote by Goethe sums up my basic treatment philosophy: "Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them become what they are capable of becoming."
