Biography

My wife and I moved to Maine so we could enjoy a good quality of life. Maine offers a slower pace of living and easy access to so many outdoor activities.

I enjoy practicing medicine in Maine and having my patients improve their quality of life be it with weight loss, dealing with acute illness or developing tools to handle chronic disease challenges.

My major clinic interest is to employ the tools of lifestyle medicine to help patients achieve goals. Lifestyle medicine relies on patient behavior changes to optimize health. Instead of a pill for every single ailment, lifestyle medicine uses power of exercise, diet and stress reduction to improve outcomes. Of particular interest is the notion that “Food is Medicine”. There is a growing realization that many illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol that lead to heart attack and stroke are created from eating a SAD diet (Standard American Diet). This SAD diet is high in milk, cheese, meat and other animal products, high in salt as well as sugar. It is lacking in fiber and vegetables and fruits. I have had great success with improving diabetes cholesterol weight and blood pressure when patients make these easy to follow simple changes in diet.
