Biography

As long as I can remember I have enjoyed helping people and giving back to my community. Toward the end of high school I began researching different careers that involved working with people. I remember the excitement I felt when I came across social work and how I felt very connected to the values of the profession. I received my Bachelors in Social Work from the University of New Hampshire during which time my passion for learning and understanding how to empower individuals grew. From there, I decided to attend Boston College for my Masters in Social Work.

I have now been in the field working with children, youth, families and adults for approximately 8 years. Before coming to Maine Behavioral Healthcare I was an in-home clinician working intensively with children, adolescence and their families on challenging behavioral/emotional health issues. I also worked in a mental health outpatient setting and have experience providing psychotherapy to very diverse populations with various presenting issues (e.g. anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, LGBTQ challenges, eating disorders, learning disorders and parenting.) I work from multiple treatment modalities including TF-CBT, CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, MATCH Curriculum, Relational Cultural Therapy, and DBT.

I believe in empowering individuals and families. Everyone has individual strengths and the ability to make changes to learn and grow and achieve personal goals. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic environment for individuals to explore and develop a healthy sense of self. This can be done through learning new skills, and processing/healing past challenging life events/traumas through different treatment modalities depending on one’s situation. I believe that, with the right support, all people can tap into their innate strengths and live satisfying lives.
