Jody Telfair-Richards had a great routine going. She’d wake up, read in bed, then practice Tai Chi. But, one morning, that routine was disrupted when she felt a jolt in her arm and began having a stroke. She was unable to speak. She was terrified.
After arriving at LincolnHealth, Jody’s condition was immediately relayed to Maine Medical Center through the MaineHealth Telestroke Network. Jody then received a clot-busting tPA injection and was transferred to Maine Medical Center, where she continued to receive care from stroke experts.
“I am a truly lucky person to be located near a small local hospital with emergency treatment available to me” explained Jody. “Had I been forced to wait until after the long ambulance ride for the tPA treatment, I may well not have recovered.”
Today, her days remain filled with good books, teaching, and practicing Tai Chi in her personal studio. Her outlook is stronger than ever.
