Waldo County General Hospital offers several support groups. Additional support groups not managed by the hospital are also hosted at our facilities. Please see below for details.

Family Caregiver Support Group

Waldo County General Hospital’s family caregiver support group meets the first Thursday of the month from noon to 1:00 p.m. This group is for all caregivers, including those caring for individuals with Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. Share wisdom and experiences with other caregivers and learn more about how you can do the job effectively while staying healthy at the same time. 

This meeting takes place in the conference room in the Home Health Conference Room, 125 Northport Avenue, opposite Waldo County General Hospital. Go in the main entrance, turn right and go down to the end of the hallway. Light refreshments will be served. This is an open, drop-in group with no charge. The group is facilitated by Margie Spencer-Smith, social worker. Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Support Group

This group is for people with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, their families and supportive friends. Learn how you can live better with Parkinson’s while sharing wisdom and experience with others. It meets on the second Wednesday of the month from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. in the conference room in the Home Health Conference Room, 125 Northport Avenue, opposite Waldo County General Hospital. Go in the main entrance, turn right and go down to the end of the hallway. Light refreshments will be served. This is an open, drop-in group with no charge. Breastfeeding Support Group

A great way to meet other new moms who are breastfeeding their babies. Siblings are welcome!

This group offers breastfeeding support and guidance to breastfeeding mothers. Our certified lactation consultants and certified lactation counselors will lead breastfeeding topics such as the early weeks, fussy babies, common problems and solutions, going back to work, nutrition and long term breastfeeding success.

The support group meets weekly on Mondays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Women and Infants Healthcare Unit (WIHCU) lactation office at Waldo County General Hospital. For more information, please contact lactation services at Waldo County General Hospital at 338-2500 ext. 4109.
