Western Maine Health Grant Program

Western Maine Health is pleased to announce that we are now accepting Western Maine Health Grant applications through November, 30, 2019. The purpose of the grant is to support local non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations in their implementation of sustainable health care initiatives in the Stephens Memorial Hospital service area. Grants will be awarded on or before December 31, 2019.

Recent grant recipients include:

  • Safe Voices of Auburn, Maine was awarded a grant to assist with their Public Health Advocate Initiated Referral (PHAIR) Project. This project will allow the South Paris Community Educator and the Advocate to improve overall public health in Oxford County by increasing access to services for victims of domestic violence and enhancing safety in our community. Through this project, South Paris staff will be able to perform targeted outreach to medical professionals in the Oxford Hills area and offer training on domestic violence, warning signs, and how to refer victims to Safe Voices through the PHAIR.
  • The Progress Center in Norway was the recipient of funding for their Feel Better Food program, which provides home delivery of nutritious meals for patients recently discharged from the hospital. This program works to address ongoing malnutrition challenges among recently discharged and recovering patients.
  • The Western Foothills Land Trust was awarded funding to assist in their efforts to build a universally accessible, quarter mile trail for the mobility-challenged community on the Shepard’s Farm Preserve in Norway.
  • The Pink Feather Foundation was the recipient of funding for their Dress Wellness Project. The project’s mission is to help Oxford Hills students who are at or below the poverty line obtain clothing, coats, and winter gear so they can dress as well as their peers in school. The goal is to improve the wellness, mental health, and self-esteem of every potential “at risk” student in the Oxford Hills school district.
