Regional community health services

  • Access to Care: Our Access to Care team works to ensure comprehensive, affordable health care for all. We connect community members to coverage options such as MaineCare and the health insurance marketplace (coverme.gov). We also connect low-income and uninsured patients to donated health care services and free/low-cost medications through the CarePartners and MedAccess programs. Learn more about Access to Care services.
  • Health Education: Health education is just as important as routine check-ups and medical care. The more you know, the easier it is to make better choices each day and take control of your health beyond the doctor's office. MaineHealth is here to help. Learn more about health education.
  • Prevention and Wellness: Prevention is the best cure. Our community health improvement programs help support wellness at all stages of life. Learn more about prevention and wellness.
  • Social Drivers of Health: Per Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, MaineHealth uses inpatient admission screening questions to connect patients to services that can help address their needs. Social drivers of health are key resources, such as food supply, housing, transportation, education, economic security and social relationships that affect health outcomes and quality of life.
  • Vocational Services: The MaineHealth Vocational Services team supports individuals, organizations and systems in advancing employment for Maine people with disabilities. With expertise in benefits counseling, community employment services, disability inclusion and training, the team works to help people with disabilities improve their economic security and quality of life. Learn more about Vocational Services.
  • Healthy Aging: MaineHealth helps older adults maintain their health and quality of life through a wide range of services such as health care, health education, support groups, assisted living and home health care. Whether you are an older adult looking to access care, or a caregiver seeking resources to support an aging loved one, MaineHealth is here to help. Learn more about healthy aging services.
  • MaineHealth Findhelp: MaineHealth Findhelp is an online directory that lists free or reduced-cost services like medical care, food, housing and more. It is anonymous and confidential. Find help.

Community Health Needs Assessment

MaineHealth conducts regular community health needs assessments (CHNA) and develops strategies to address these needs through a community health implementation plan (CHIP). Our CHNA reports include county level data, input from community forums and an in-depth look at key priority areas.

MaineHealth Food Pantries

Access to healthy food is critically important to human health and well-being. In Maine, one out of every five children and one out of every ten people do not have reliable access to affordable, healthy food. That's why MaineHealth provides hospital-based food pantries as a natural part of our continuum of care.
