Diabetes & Nutrition

The Diabetes and Nutrition Care Center provides both nutritional counseling for a wide variety of medical conditions and diabetes education in individual or group settings. Our team includes registered dietitians and registered nurses with special training in diabetes education. The Center is recognized by the American Diabetes Association as offering high-quality education services to the patients it serves. Consulting

The Diabetes and Nutrition Care Center educators offer consultative services to the community on a variety of diabetes and nutrition health related topics.

Our program meets the national standards for diabetes self management education.

We help people who:

  • Are newly diagnosed
  • Need an update or review
Registered nurses and registered dietitian-nutritionists will work together to assess what you need to learn to stay healthy.
You will learn:
  • How to plan healthy meals
  • The how, when & why of blood sugar monitoring
  • The right exercise for you
  • How to prevent diabetes complications
  • How diabetes medications work
A one year national diabetes prevention program developed by the Centers for Disease Control. The class is lead by a health coach who is a registered dietitian-nutritionist. Please call our office to learn about the next available session.

Pen Bay Emergency Department Recognized for Pediatric Readiness

State EMS Director Wil O’Neal, Maine Emergency Services Director, will formally recognize Pen Bay Medical Center as a Pediatric Innovator during a ceremony in front of the hospital’s emergency department entrance on Tuesday, May 7, at 11 am. This event is free and open to the public.
