Supporting Change Through Policy Recognition
The MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence Breathe Easy Initiative conducts the Gold Star Standards of Excellence recognition program annually to encourage and support Maine's hospitals, colleges and universities, and behavioral health organizations in addressing smoking and tobacco use by creating and maintaining smoke and tobacco-free policies.
The voluntary program involves implementing ten evidence-based, environment-specific standards for organizations to meet through written, sustainable policies and procedures.
Hospitals, colleges and universities, and behavioral health organizations are committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for their patients, students, faculty, clients, staff and visitors.
