Endocrinology & Diabetes Care

The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and MMP Pediatric Specialty Care lead northern New England in care for endocrine disorders and diabetes in children, adolescents and young adults. Our expert team includes board-certified pediatric endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians and registered nurses. This is the only pediatric American Diabetes Association Educational Recognized program in Maine.

Our team provides the highest-quality care for diabetes and other endocrine disorders, including growth, puberty, thyroid, adrenal, calcium and neuroendocrinology. Pediatric endocrinologists, diabetes educators, dietitians, and social workers work with every family to create a treatment plan designed for each patient's lifestyle.

Our approach to patient care emphasizes self-management through education and family involvement. We provide a comprehensive spectrum of services that rivals that of any other major medical center in the nation. We use advanced diagnostic technology to accurately identify endocrine disorders and novel treatments through our participation in TrialNet, a national network of 18 clinical centers dedicated to the study, prevention and early treatment of type 1 diabetes.
