The hospital’s anesthesiologists are here to provide personalized care for the patient undergoing medical and surgical procedures at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Each case is reviewed in advance by a nurse-physician team. All cases receive personal assessment with follow-up to achieve maximal benefit, minimal stress, and the best outcome possible.
Anesthesia involves the use of medications to block pain during surgery and other medical procedures. Anesthesia also reduces many of your body’s normal stress reactions to surgery. The type of anesthesia used depends on your health conditions, results of your physical exam, and the type of surgery you are having. Your anesthesiologist will work with you to determine the best type of anesthesia for you.
- Anesthesia for all general, orthopedic, urologic, OB/GYN, ear nose and throat, and ophthalmic surgeries.
- Broad focus on preventive pain techniques with regional blocks, ultrasound guidance, and various pain-cocktail medications.
- Obstetrical pain relief: inhaled, intrathecal, and epidural.
- Sedation for non-operating room pain control including: post-op, emergency department, ICU, endoscopy, colonoscopy, and obstetrical procedures.
Before your Surgery
Your anesthesiologist will meet with you, usually on the day of your surgery, to discuss the anesthetic care you will receive and to answer your questions.
