Oncology services provide maximum convenience and privacy for the growing number of patients diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders. Located on the first floor, oncology has three examining rooms and a large open area for the administration of medications and other services.
This service greatly benefits patients and their families who before had to travel long distances for the same care and treatment they can receive right here.
Medical oncologist and hematologist Dr. Richard Krull and Susan Trafton, PA-C provide cancer care at Franklin Memorial Hospital each week. All are affiliated with MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care. Services offered include chemotherapy and intravenous fluids administration, blood product transfusion, and antibiotic therapy administered by registered nurses, many of whom are chemotherapy-certified and oncology-certified.
Access to clinical cancer research trials is possible through the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
