Medical Student Opportunities

The department of Radiology welcomes third and fourth year medical students to rotate with us. Our fourth year student rotation is 4 weeks and the third year student rotation is 2 weeks.  Enrollment is limited to four each month so please schedule early and notify us of any changes as soon as possible.

This rotation covers a variety of radiology subspecialties and takes place at the MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland campus. During this rotation you will be exposed to a broad range of radiology including Chest, Body, Neuro, and Emergency medicine rotations.  Additional exposure to Nuclear Medicine, Pediatric Radiology, Interventional Radiology, and/or Breast Imaging may also be possible during your elective.  On each rotation you will work directly with a resident and attending radiologist and will review relevant clinical history, anatomy, pathophysiology, and imaging technology.

Medical students will be required to present one interesting case encountered during your rotation month. The case will be presented to the radiology residents during a noon conference the last week of your rotation.

Applications are accepted through the Visiting Students Learning Opportunities (VSLO).

For more elective information please contact Kimberly Murphy kimberly.murphy@mainehealth.org or call 207-662- 7142.
