Medical Education Open House

The Department of Graduate Medical Education at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center (MHMMC) is excited to invite you to one of our GME Open Houses! Out goal is to allow you to make the best possible decision for your medical training while also maintaining equity throughout the admission process.

We realize that while it may be helpful for some of you to visit Portland and MHMMC prior to applying, this is not possible for the majority of applicants. We have created these sessions at the GME level to ensure that your decision to attend will have no impact on your application or selection to a training program at MHMMC. While you will have the opportunity to meet residents (and fellows) from across MHMMC, representatives from specific program leadership will not be present and your attendance will not be reported to individual programs.

We do hope that this format will allow you the opportunity to learn more about training at MHMMC, the city of Portland, and the people that make MHMMC so special. Learn more about training at MHMMC.

Many of our programs are also planning to have in-person second day visits available at the conclusion of the interview season consistent with the recommendations of their respective professional organizations. Please contact gmemeded@mainehealth.org if you have any questions.

Sign-up for the open house tour.

And I Quote...

“In the last decade, Portland has undergone a controlled fermentation for culinary ideas — combining young chefs in a hard climate with few rules, no European tradition to answer to, and relatively low economic pressure — and has become one of the best places to eat in the Northeast.” - The New York Times
