Residency Practice Sites

Residents do their inpatient rotations at Maine Medical Center and select either the Portland or Falmouth clinics as their primary clinic site at which they see their continuity patients.

Portland Family Medicine Center

In the heart of Portland’s East End, the Portland Family Medicine Center originally opened in 1974 and was rebuilt in 1999. The building is home to 15 residents, 6 faculty, and our sports medicine department and fellowship.

The Portland site has traditionally provided care to the area’s urban population, which is ethnically and socioeconomically diverse. On site, we offer social workers, lab and x-ray services.

Falmouth Family Medicine Center

Located 5 miles from downtown Portland, Falmouth is a suburb just north of the city. Our Family Medicine Center in Falmouth shares office space with other medical offices, including internal medicine, pediatrics, and orthopedics. The Falmouth site houses 6 residents and 8 faculty and serves a varied patient population, including urban and rural underserved as well as middle-class patients. Similar to our Portland site, we offer social work, lab and x-ray services.

Preble Street Learning Collaborative

The Maine Medical Center – Preble Street Learning Collaborative (PSLC) is located in downtown Portland about a half mile from the Portland Family Medicine Center and is designed to increase access to safe, patient-centered care for people experiencing homelessness. PSLC offers walk-in medical services and outreach care, case management and coordination, mental health and dental care. Additionally, it is a site for interdisciplinary education for many MMC residents and medical students, as well as dental, social work, pharmacy and nursing students.
