Stipend & Benefits

As employees of MaineHealth, our residents and fellows have access to all of the benefits afforded to regular employees.   The “2018 Employee Benefits Guide” offers significant detail about these benefits, including health insurance, disability, dental and vision insurance.  Professional liability insurance is paid by the institution for all residents and fellows. Residents and Fellows with intranet access can view the benefits guide here.

Time Off and Vacation Benefits

Residents and fellows may take up to 21 working days of vacation per year, which are banked at the beginning of each academic year.  All House Officers are encouraged to use all of their vacation time per year, however may choose to roll over 3 days into the next academic year.   Specialty-specific RRC’s may have additional conditions and limits to total time away from the residency program; information available from individual programs and at www.acgme.org.   House Officers also get banked sick time and have access to request leaves of absence, including maternity/paternity leave.
