Education and Professional Development

Maine Medical Center is committed to the provision of education for health care professionals within MMC and throughout and beyond the State of Maine.

In support of our mission and organizational strategic priorities, the Center for Clinical & Professional Development (CCPD) operates in partnership with colleagues throughout nursing and other disciplines to promote best practices, quality health care and outcomes, professional advancement, and career mobility. The Center offers a continuum of services to build upon the educational and professional bases of nurses, students, and other members of the health care team in accordance with the complex demands of today’s health care environment. As an Accredited Provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Department of Nursing’s CCPD partnered with the Departments of Medical Education and Pharmacy in 2020 and applied for Joint Accreditation as a Provider of Continuing Education (JA) through the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the ANCC to provide continuing education for the health care team. MMC received designation as a Joint Accredited Provider of Interprofessional Continuing Education in January of 2021 through 2027!

MMC promotes interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) activities specifically designed to improve interprofessional collaborative practice.
