Being remembered and recognized by a patient is incredibly meaningful to our care team. It is uplifting for our caregivers to hear from patients after they leave our care, to find out how they are doing and know that we made a difference in their life.
Many patients discover that giving helps in their healing process; a way of paying it forward so that others may be helped as they were. Patients often ask how they can show appreciation for that special person who made a difference during their stay, visit or treatment, which is why we have the Healthcare Heroes program – a way to recognize a caregiver or employee to whom you are grateful by sharing why they were important to you and making a donation to MaineHealth Maine Medical Center (Biddeford, Portland and Sanford) in their honor.
