Private sibling education classes are offered to families with children over two years of age. This class is specially designed to help young family members prepare for their new sibling. Each class is scheduled on an individual basis.
Your child/children will have the opportunity to see where their sibling will be born and what a newborn looks like. Using a doll, we will teach them ways to help when the new baby comes home.
Please call 207-505-4140 to schedule a time that is convenient for you and your family.
The MaineHealth Waldo Hospital Family Birth Center team includes certified nurse midwives (CNMs) to meet your health care needs. Midwives provide services such as:
- Prenatal, birth and post partum care
- Annual exams
- Reproductive health visits
- Menopause management
- Patient education
CNMs are licensed, independent health care providers who can prescribe medication. They are defined as primary care providers under federal law.
We will follow safe sleep practices for your newborn while you are at MaineHealth Waldo Hospital.
Remember Your ABCs
The safest way for your baby to sleep is:
- Alone
- On their back
- In a crib
We recommend that your baby share a room with you for at least the first 6 months of life, or ideally for the first year.
Watch a safe sleep video and learn how to safely position your baby for sleep at naptime or bedtime to help prevent sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
